Does Iraq have a military draft? Should they have one?

How many Iraqis fall within the age range of those currently serving in our military?

Many wealthy Iraqi families have fled the country (some estimate millions). How many of them were between the ages of 18 and 45 and could have been part of the military if they had a draft?

Why would you insist Iraq initiate a draft when you more than likely oppose one for the US?

...Iraq doesn't need a military draft, because they already have an ALL VOLUNTEER army. Trouble is, most of them are fighting AGAINST America instead of BESIDE us.

...And tonight, the "Great Deciderer" will announce the latest GOP plan to escalate HIS WAR by putting ANOTHER 20,000+ Americans in harms way!! :( :(

Sending additional troops to Iraq was one suggestion a non-partisan group made up of people from Congress called the Iraq Study Group put in their report. Another suggestion was to pull our troops out, and another to enlist Syria and Iran to help.

The president informed you all last night of one very important reason he refuses to let Syria and Iran help; materials to construct a more deadly IED have been coming into Iraq from both those countries.

Iran would love nothing more than to have our troops withdraw from Iraq. This would give them the opportunity to use their military to seize Iraq and its assets. The Iraqi army is in no position to defend itself from an invasion from Iran.

Don't think for a second Iran would not do this. There is bad blood between the two countries as a result from their long war. Controlling Iraq's oil would enable Iran to stop any oil exports to Europe and the US. Imagine what this could do to the economies.

Being Prior Service, I agree 100% with GLFox and what he is saying. Even though war is bad, and every step should be made to prevent it from happening, there are times when it is necessary. I'm sorry if some of you don't believe we should have gone after Saddam after the 9/11 attacks, but when he is helping the terrorist with finances and training facilities, it's time to set up. Unfortunately that is just one reason why the man needed to be taken. Having been over there and seeing what he has done to his people, I bet you would agree if you had seen as well. If it wasn't for this current administration taking action, we would be worse off than what we are now. I am sorry that American Soldiers and Marines had lost their lives, but they lost them keeping us free.

GLFox, you are alright in my book, and I appreciate you standing up for those us who believe. I hope that you keep on.

For those who believe this current administration is a Joke, and feel we should be staying out of this fight, and wanting the terrorist to continue to attack the United States, it's unfortunate, but I have only one last thing to say. If you hate America and what it stand for that bad, GET OUT! We don't need you or want you. I'm sorry that I decided to post on this forum but I have read too much bashing the President and the fact he is only doing what he feels is right.

It's people like you who hate America. It's people like you that feed the tortured souls of the terrorists.

The historical record shows that planning for the invasion of Iraq began many months before 9/11. Many of those involved, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz and other neocon demagogues now disavow the war and charge that Bush/Cheney botched it and turned it into the terrible mess it now is.

Millions, perhaps billions of our money is lost and unaccounted for. Millions more have been lost to the greed and corruption of companies like Haliburton and Bechtel.

It was estimated by Lancet, a British medical journal, that over 600,000 Iraqi's have died as a result of Bush's gift of occupation and democracy. Saddam tortured and killed many of his own people and we knew it was happening and we helped keep him in power. We knew he was using chemical and biological weapons against his enemies and we turned away. Our government committed to help the Shia and Kurds overthrow Saddam and when they tried we reneged on that commitment and thousands died.

You don't want to know the truth because you can't handle the truth.

Impeach Bush/Cheney, then put them in prison.

Ya know what impeach? You sit in the comfort of your home, perhaps surrounded by your family. There is heat in your house, food in your fridge, dry clothes on your back and a bed to sleep in.
You actually have the audacity to tell these 2 men who have put their lives on the line for ALL OF US, that they hate the USA?
Who the h3ll do you think you are? You sit here and talk of impeachment, and do nothing but spew hatred towards these men who have SACRIFICED family time, dry clothes and a bed to sleep in so you can sit here and pass along such a narrow minded view of your world.
You should be kissing the boots that these 2 soldiers have worn, because if it wasn't for them, you'd have no safe place like home at all.
I am sick & tired of all the impeach, fire, send them to prison garbage that is posted here.
It is pathetic and you should be ashamed by your posts. Of course you won't be because you are soooo narrow minded and warped in your thought processes that anyone who dares speak up for the troops is nothing but a tool.
You are a hater. I'd rather be thought of as a tool than someone who would DARE call any soldier of the USA a hater of this great country that we live in.
Keep on hating.
I'm outta here.

Unless you are a member of one of the many Indigenous Cultures of North America, the United States is not really your home. Just because your ancestors invaded the continent does not make it your true home.

Which history books have you been reading? The country is only great if you believe all the propaganda the government feeds you. Want to supersize that meal?

Wow, I almost feel bad for flaming wingnut5, almost. /giggle

Flame away troll....No big deal to me.
Realize one important thing though......
In Asia if your mother were to be pregnant with you, you'd never be born. It's not by her choice, but the governments.
If you lived in the Middle East, and was caught talking to a man on the street who was NOT family, you could be shot on sight.
If you live in Africa, you'd be dying of hunger.
If you live in any of the South American countries, you'd be forced into prostitution in order to survive.
Look into some of that. It may expand some of that gray matter of yours.

Giggle all you want. Skip along blissfully unaware what is happening to women all around the world. Hope you get a great chuckle out of that

I will /giggle all I want. I actually belong on this continent where my people have lived for thousands of years. Anishinabe Kwe, FTW!

It's too bad for those other women yes, but there's not a thing I can do for them.
