I left the theater about 10:00 PM this evening. We had been there since 6:30 rehearsing for Beauty and the Beast. We were lucky it didn't start much earlier. It is a very sad day for all of us.

Damn Owosso can't get any luck with all these fires the last few years...

Too bad too because the nice remodel job that many have done on the LEBOWSKY CENTER... :(

Hopefully they are insured and will be able to rebuild much like the Capital Bowl has and rise from the ashes...

Sad,

DJ TAO :(

Still burning but walls are still standing. East wall was bowed really bad in. Looks like if things keep going as they have the past hour or so, it will be under control. Poor Sunnyside-Hope they can still operate tomorrow. Probably one of their biggest days of the year.

As of 6 a.m., the building is still standing. I'm keeping MY fingers crossed that it can be saved and renovated. :angel2:

I'm glad you are alright. It must be a sad day at your house.

Sorry to hear about the fire for sure.Hope insurance was there to cover it. Perhaps with a little imagination the owner's can move to the old owosso hotel site a block west and rebuild another theater.

I just learned this morning about the fire. I wish I could find the words to express the sorrow and condolences to the Owosso Community Players who have put their blood sweat and tears into building such fabulous cultural center in our city. Lord knows what little culture we have and the negative attitudes towards financing such things, this is a tremendous loss to the community. My sympathy goes out to Joe, Chris, Tom, Erin, Carl, Debbie, John and Luke amongst others who have worked SO hard to get ready for "The Beauty and The Beast" presentation. My first thought was the OJHS auditorium as a replacement but remembered the costumes and musical instruments that must have been destroyed. Also the OJHS does not have an orchestra Pit. The old adage, "The Show Must Go On!" will surely suffer in this case. If the OCP can pull this one off and survive in the future, all I can say is that is one dedicated tough bunch of individuals. Bless you all!! :wav: :wav:

I just spoke with someone who was on site this morning helping Sunnyside Florist get their orders out. This will just about kill their biggest day of the year. No phone, no power.

Opinion is the walls that are still standing will have to come down.

The power company is waiting for the fire department to give them the ok to work on a pole that is in the fall path of one of the walls.

Owosso City Fire will post some details of this fire, much like we used to do on the Shianet forum, in a day or so. We still have a crew on scene taking care of hot spots. Nobody was injured last night. More later.
