First of all, I have found a new local blog -- http://kulardenu.blogspot.com

Second, look at this post, please - http://kulardenu.blogspot.com/2007/03/why-is-this-allowed.html

That picture was taken this afternoon. It is the flag over the AO Smith building in Owosso. As you probably know, AOS closed last year. I don't know what's up with the maintenance there, but this flag has been left like this.

A Vietnam Veteran brought it to the attention of Kulardenu.

I think this is terrible that this flag has been left like this, especially during a time of war, and I would like to know who is in charge of maintenance of this building. Anyone know? Where can I find out?

Thanks for the help.

I believe Coldwell Banker Lansing is the name on the for sale sign on Stewart St... OR you could call SCRCC 723-5149 and ask Justin Horvath.

That's a good idea about calling the chamber. Thanks.

AO should have taken down their flag when they closed the doors. That is so disrespectful of our nation!

Maybe they were just waiting for the American flag to wear out so they could put up the Chinese flag. The supporters of Bush's War are a thousand times less patriotic than the owners of A.O. Smith and those who are complicit in their silence are even worse.

...Looks like A.O. Smith left Owosso in a hurry....didn't even have time to lower the flag.....Guess they'll have to buy a new one when they get to Mexico. :(

Someone could also call the various VETERAN groups and let them know about this travesty!!
Rep. Ball, Valde Garcia, ... etc. should ALL be made aware of this DEPLORABLE situation!

I am going to the Owosso City Council meeting tonight. The condition of this flag will be noted. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I feel bad that I never noticed it sooner.

Councilman Cline, who worked at A O Smith (Universal) for 18 years, says he will contact the owner about the flag. He said he will have an answer in two days.

The flag is obviously a reflection of the hearts and minds of the former workers of the factory. When the plant closed it left the workers shattered and torn, much like the flag in the photo. Or at least that's my take on it.

I'd just take the flag down, but that's me.
