Just one more on the list of many reasons to impeach Bush/Cheney. Pretty soon even the weak kneed Democrats and Republicans will come to the realization they can't handle two more years of these terrible situations dribbling out day after day, week after week and they will act.

How much more must you learn before you will act?

This is from CNN

"The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has subpoenaed Maj. Gen. George Weightman, who was fired as head of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, after Army officials refused to allow him to testify before the committee Monday.

Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and subcommittee Chairman John Tierney asked Weightman to testify about an internal memo that showed privatization of services at Walter Reed could put “patient care services at risk of mission failure.”

The memorandum “describes how the Army’s decision to privatize support services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center was causing an exodus of ‘highly skilled and experienced personnel,’” the committee’s letter states. “According to multiple sources, the decision to privatize support services at Walter Reed led to a precipitous drop in support personnel at Walter Reed.”

The letter said Walter Reed also awarded a five-year, $120-million contract to IAP Worldwide Services, which is run by Al Neffgen, a former senior Halliburton official."

Sorry, you lost me at "This is from CNN" and I'll tell you why.

A few years ago my Brother in law was stationed in Seoul, S. Korea.
We were watching CNN for "the news" and watched an "urgent report" about an uprising at the Air Force base where my Brother in law was stationed along with his entire family. They ended the story with implications of a huge "international incident"
Of course my Mother in law is frantic and calls my Brother in law. We saw the report around noon so she was calling them at approx. 2:00 AM Seoul time.
After much confusion and explaining we found out that the big "international incident" was actually about 2 dozen protesters wanting the Americans to go home. And as soon as the TV cameras went away, so did the protesters. The whole thing lasted something like 20-30 minutes.

Ever since, I have watched or read CNN "stories", and I think that description is accurate, with a grain of salt.
More often than not, upon investigation, the story carries an inaccurate political slant I don't care for.

The problems at Walter Reed, any other military installation healthcare facility, and VA are not new to any war. We've experienced this same problem during Vietnam, Korea, and WWII. It's a shame the Democratic controlled Congress' only action at this moment is to hold hearings and request the testimony of those already fired. The hearings aren't doing anything for these military members. Why don't they allocate some money to fix the substandard living condiitions and to provide better care right now?

I don't watch Fox news (bad reception - no cable - no dish) and I don't read the Washington Times.

Are these reliable sources of information?

This guy seemed like he was saying CNN not reliable......

Well................I can always accept a compliment, but this one confused me. I think the one guy was slamming CNN and I'm not so sure about the rest???? I'm still confused.

Best thought going here.....how many more will die, while they hold their "hearings"?

To answer Kaylor, yes, I was slamming CNN. I hate when any news outlet omits facts to make a story fit their own political philosophy.
It's even worse when they manufacture news. Remember Rathergate in 2004?
Anything Dan Rather does now is tainted. The fact of his story may very well be true but we'll never know for sure because any future reports on it will always be suspect.

Now, before anyone starts calling me a Bush fan, let me save you the trouble. He's ticked me off a lot, I don't agree with many of his policies.

I get my news from a number of sources, CNN, Fox News, Washington Times, New York Times and Post, and many many others.
It helps to watch opposing news sources, you get half the story from one source and the other half from the other.
Final news analysis: A more complete picture of any news event.

To GLFox:
Both the Democrats and Republicans better get off their collective duffs and do something to improve the conditions at Walter Reed and any other VA hospital that is found lacking.
Our fighting men and women deserve better!!!!

We ALL better be keeping an eye on this situation.
