This forum is going to the dogs, LITERALLY!
How about the talk of consolidating Morrice and Perry schools???
This was a heated topic forty years ago and is back again. Back in the sixties a guy could get a punch in the nose for being on the wrong side of this issue.
Surely this is worthy of a lengthy thread.
Ovid and Elsie went through the same thing but ended up CONSOLIDATING. The scars took a little while to heal but now are all proud of their OE letter sweaters. No longer at football games do you hear the comment, "That was an Elsie boy carrying the ball that time!!!" Why, the Ovid folks and Elsie folks even sit together at games now.
Consolidation backers, today, must surely consider the cost of transporting school children back and forth and to sporting events. I believe every school district in the state spends as much on transportation as they do the physical plant. I walked or bicycled to school all through school except for three years of high school. And that is because the district we lived in did not even have a high school. Today the majority of our children will never walk K-12!

Well, just for a moment or two. Seems like nobody gives a rip what the outlaws in our county government do. But I think you live in Caledonia TWP. That is one that has their own animal control ordinance and therefore the county animal control agency does not have jurisdiction there.

I know you don't have a dog, but I don't understand why people don't seem to care that a county is operating outside the laws of the state? How can you expect anything to be right?

Good point, Kaylor. Keep up the good work. I was sort of joshing but interest in a topic depends upon whose Ox is being gored. I don't have to read em, do I?

I guess that is something like nonsmokers could care less how much tax is added to cigarettes. Legally or otherwise. Appears no one cares that dog owners are being illegally taxed.

You certainly don't, and if this is all you got to say it might be better if you didn't. But I think its like all the divorces in the paper in August in the high desert..........."the time of year when cows go around just looking for a fence to stomp down"........they all get over it, soon as it rains.

We had rain.................you were up too early this morning.

I'm glad that you have a cause to fight but Fritz wasn't rude to you. So why be so rude to him? You voice your opinion on many things. Why can't he?

If you think that was being rude to Fritz, you certainly didn't read what he had to say to me under the seatbelt thread.

But........since you are so free with your opinions, maybe you can explain why your county government acting outside the law is not a cause you even pay any attention to. (That's assuming you live in Shiawassee county.) Acting outside the law and quite literally stealing from a segment of the population. Is that just a segment you don't care about? Are you not even concerned about what else they may be doing that is not within the law? All you care about is that I might be 'rude' to Fritz?

I do live within Shiawassee County and I own two dogs. I do care about what's going on and where my tax money is going. I just choose to not be rude to other people who comment on things.

I do have to say that I do not disagree with fining people who have not purchased dog licenses (is that being too free with my opinions? ). I am a tax payer who is a responsible dog owner and purchases dog licenses for said dogs.

Do you care about being illegally taxed?
Do you believe the county should be violating state law?

Of course I care about both of those things. Unfortunately I have bigger things to worry about. I know that comment is going to bite me in the butt, but I'm honest.

Well.......that could be obvious.....
If you have bigger things to worry about, perhaps you should be worrying about them. This seems like a little thing, but it is a very complicated little thing and you likely do not have the time to study it enough to really understand it.

I do have bigger things to worry about and I do worry about them. Let's get snide about this, eh? You seem to be doing a great job with concentrating on this "little" problem. Little things can turn into big ones. But when I work around 30 hours per week, go to school full time, and try to keep up with my household stuff.....I have to weed out the smaller things and not let those things bother me. And before you point out that school is out of session right now, I work over that 30 hours per week currently, until school kicks back in.

I think you can decide that for yourself. It would be a mistake for anyone to take anything on this forum too seriously. Much of it is certainly worthy of further research. Kaylor is quite diligent in researching topics that are important to her but occasionally just pulls something right out of thin air.
That is my opinion and I am going to stick with it. :)

Ah, you poor dear, 'tis a wonder you find the time to read and respond on this forum at all.

EDIT.................That might sound a bit more snarkey than I intended.

When I was younger, raising a family, going to school, working full time (usually 40, sometimes 60 hours per week) I didn't have time for this sort of thing, either. I didn't stick my nose in.

Now I have time..........well sorta

I think I should have stuck my nose in sooner......so I hope you keep sticking your nose in.
