I am serving Shiawassee, Genesee, and Lapeer counties as a Groundwater Educator in the Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program. The goal is to educate about groundwater conservation and contamination prevention. I do group presentations to teach about groundwater and related topics, I can speak at any meeting promoting my program and services I offer, and I will be holding workshops on lawn, septic, and well care. I also do what is called Home*A*Syst. It is an evaluation of potential risks of groundwater contamination at a home site. After the risks are identified I offer suggestions on how to reduce those risks. All the services are free, confidential, and non-regulatory. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at ostranderp2@michigan.gov or call me at 723-8263 ext. 3. I have been trying to get my contact info out through radio and newspapers, but I would like to get the info to as many people as I can. Thank you.

Wow, not a single reply, I'll try again.

If you or anyone you know are interested in a free, confidential, non-regulatory evaluation of your home, apartment, or property that identifies any potential risks to groundwater contamination, let me know. This service is through the Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program's residential aspect and is called Home*A*Syst. It cover topics such as hazardous household chemical storage, lawn and garden care, waterfront property management, well and septic care, and management of household trash. The presentation can also be applied to a group setting and can also focus on just lawn and garden or just the waterfront property aspects, called Lawn*A*Syst and Lake*A*Syst. It is very informational and also helps to keep water quality in the minds of the public.
As an AmeriCorps volunteer covering Shiawassee, Genesee, and Lapeer counties I have a lot of ground to cover and any leads to potential candidates for this would be helpful. I've had articles in the Indepentent and Argus and was also on InFocus on z92.5 trying to get in touch with Shiawassee county, but not much luck so far other than contacts I already know.
Thanks again, Parker Ostrander

This county is so over-regulated nobody gonna stand up for anything they don't have to.
